~Sophia's~ Choice

Hallmark Days

Rate this Entry
Some childhood memories

should just be left at the curb

along with the rest of the trash.

Rancid, like a carton of milk
with a picture of a

missing kid on the side
and a 40 year old

Best Before date.

I always thought
Hall
missed the mark.

Mom…

this Mother’s Day

I just wanted to say

sorry you always felt

I ruined your life
on
the day I was born.

Dad…

It’s Father’s Day
and
I want you to know

the warm feeling of
your
strong hands
around my throat

stayed with me.

Hi Riesa, like many others, my childhood left a lot to be desired. Thanks for noticing!

I wouldn't find it easy to write that honestly, I admire your courage.

    That was very powerful.
"the warm feeling of your hands around my throat"
    Amazing line.

It wasn't easy Riesa, but it kind of wrote itself. Hugs.

Oh my gosh. I missed this yesterday. Fine poem Sophia. Powerful. I don't think you need the comma in that last stanza:
    Dad…

    It’s Father’s Day
and
    I want you to know,

Hey Virgil! Sorry, I just noticed this! You are absolutely right about the comma and... presto, it's gone!
