Execution of Regard

Rate this Entry
Haggard hopes entombed
In strident hasps and yet doomed
In the graft of fiscal support,
In rhythm with a rippling cavort.
Attuned to the remarked cadence
Of hard gist and common sense,
Aligned with th gaze of the troubadour,
Besmirched in bearing of a boor.
The past may be lost
In matchless cost
Of a commercial standard of vogue.
Derivative takes on the rogue.
To mourn the separation of majesty
From the concept of amnesty
Is to commiserate with the suspicious
Who traded hats with the auspicious
When they marked them for their protection
And forced their affection.
How idealists hate
The fate steadfastly traded
Downward through the echelons,
Confirmed conquest for the cons.
The time has come to grieve
The sanction of this reprieve.
The end will never be
The perfect destiny
Of beauteous effect
Of recognizing artless defect
As preliminary fare
On the grounds of a luminary
To address the wealth of mores
Of society's fellows and bores.

I have no idea what this means but parts of it sound wonderful. I liked the openning lines:
    Haggard hopes entombed
In strident hasps and yet doomed
In the graft of fiscal support,
In rhythm with a rippling cavort.
    Attuned to the remarked cadence
Of hard gist and common sense,
Aligned with th gaze of the troubadour,
Besmirched in bearing of a boor.

The main idea of the poem is that history isn't all it's cracked up to be and neither, however properly guided our intentions, will the present turn out perfect, by the very nature of the reality of the course of events.
