Received a letter from Immigration today thinking it was to set up an appointment for our fingerprints but instead it was a letter stating that the check I sent is not acceptable because it doesn't have my address printed on it. If I had known this I would have sent a money order instead. Now I have to go to the bank for a money order and send it back.

I went back over the instructions and no where did it state this about personal checks.

Not only do I have to go to the bank, I then have to go to post office because it needs to be sent certified mail.

Certified is a good idea. I hope this is only a temporary setback. Geez, you have to follow the rules right to the last tiny detail. I can imagine how mad you are - frustrated too. Stay calm and promptly send out the MO. PO's are cheaper anyway than the banks. Keep all of your receits that it was send to them.

Will this delay your trip? I'm on the edge of my seat here. I can't imagine how you feel.

I don't think so since it's only been a week. I contacted our coordinator to tell her what happened and I got the money order today and mailed it back. I'm actually ok with what happened just a little miffed that all the directions did not mention that if paying by personal check it must have your address printed on check.

I cannot even begin to imagine how annoying these little delays must be for you guys! Still keep your eyes on the goal and keep going!

We are all rooting for you!

Rule of thumb for ANYTHING involving documentation and working with governemnt agencies. Every piece of corresondence shuld have an identifier to it. Especially anything relating to MONEY. I once go off the hook for a forged chek because MY name was not printed on the document. Hang in there. Lots of trees in the forest so be alert and patience patience patience--the reward of the your child will more then make up for all this rigamarole.
