I've edited the photo out because it was not intended to offend any Lit-netters. I will search for a less recognizable photo. Sorry.

Come Here Little Girl

It weighs on me - this elephant in the parlor.
This larceny of wood-be Lancelots flashing
yellow teeth and green backs, the
undercurrent lucre of

tumescent little flags raised by the
holy blue grail (the drug of choice
on Rogaine Row) they swallow virility,
and swear allegiance to the loyal order
of old fools.

If I could, I would pinch their burrowing
egos with tweezers, yank the heads out
like ticks in folds. Tattoo
buying her youth won’t bring back yours
on their sorry butts and send them home
to their gullible others.

It irks me, this needy campaign without
conscience - their own sanctified wives
and daughters safe in the holy lands.
Distance absolving collateral damage,
sixteen year olds carrying baby long tooths.

Heretic at the altar. Throw a few
pesos on the collection plate, high five
the victory then shuffle onto a plane
to plan your next assault.

Of course you’re not a pedophile if
you're on a "golf vacation"
with your buddies and you
don’t ask her age.

    I love that line.

Thanks Kiz! It's a palsy here that is impossible to overlook.

woah. Um - I'll be the first to admit I do listen to Rush, when I'm stuck in the car and my parents are listening to him. It is disgusting and unfortunate that he's addicted to Viagra () but it seems a little unfair to accuse him of going to the Dominican Republic for, ahem, sex touring. But regardless, the poem is hard-hitting - I'd make any child molester/rapist read it with all the world staring at him...see if he does it again .

I think the most telling line is, "Distance absolving collateral damage". It gives the poem it's power as in, "There, she said it!"

Hi andave. I didn't write the poem about Rush. I found that article on-line yesterday and since my other Haiti/Dominican poems have photos, I used it. I have heard however that he is a frequent "visitor" here. Thanks for commenting!!

alakungfu ... exactly! It's the old "what happens in the D.R. stays in the D.R.". Unfortunately, the "happenings" need, food, shelter, medical, schooling etc. and so the cycle continues.

My father bought me a subscription to The Limbaugh Letter, if I would have had an outhouse, I'd use it for t.p. I retaliated by giving my dad Moore's "Stupid White Men" for x-mas, it wasn't appreciated. lol. there are few people I despise in this world, but Rush is definitely at the top of the list, indicative of everything that is wrong with that generation.

    great writing, Sophia

That's very funny Riesa! Bet your dad read it cover to cover LOL. I especially like "The Prayer To Afflict The Comfortable" ... Thanks for the comment!!

yes, that deserves quoting, I almost quoted it here, but it's easily found by googling.

My dad became enraged, actually. lol. typical of that mentality, I have to say I actually read the first three of four issues of The Limbaugh Letter before they started going from the mailbox to the garbage, just so I could form an honest opinion; my dad would rather the world come to an end then be exposed to an opinion that differs from his own.

I found it on-line. Books and movies here are scarce at best. On-line is pretty well my info highway. Some dad's are apt to do that. I hope yours didn't enrage the way mine did!

you can see or read pretty much anything online now, love it,ugh, I remember the days of Encyclopedia Britannica.

no, never physical, but there is more than one way to skin a cat.

I rely on the net for all my outside-of-the-D.R. info. There are a couple of used book stores run by expats but they are mostly filled with the romance novels people bring down on vacation and self-help books http://www.websmileys.com/sm/aliens/borg.gif. Everyone knows I don't read those!http://www.websmileys.com/sm/crazy/253.gif

Sorry about the dad thing. I do know both sides of that coin. I used to call my mother Darth Martha http://www.websmileys.com/sm/dressed/bek021.gif

The poem is interesting, but you know I felt this was very unfair to Rush Limbaugh. I went and researched this and all I found was stuff from left wing extremist sites. There was no legit news that went into this, and recently Limbaugh has been in the news and while the major networks brought up various negative thing about him (his being addicted to pain killers and such) this story was never mentioned. I have to believe there is no credible evidence of what you think happened. And even on its surface, what have you got? A bottle of viagara. Well lots of older men travel with that. I see nothing to reach the conclusion that article did.

I can understand not caring for his politics, but personal attacks are distasteful.

Oh dear Virgil, I'm so sorry if you found it offensive but he does have a reputation down here and apparently does not try to hide his identity. Discretion is not the better part of his valor. But to be fair, he's not alone. There are several other prominent individuals, not just from the U.S. but Britain, Germany, Switzerland ... news here travels fast and this place is what it is. I didn't intend to offend so, if it helps, I will remove his photo and the blog.

I didn't find it offensive. I'm not Rush Limnbaugh or related to him. I just thought it was unfair. There are things that people can pick at Limbaugh for, but this doesn't ring valid. Again I didn't see any mainstream news that supported this and I have not heard this in people's arguments against him.
  17. ~Sophia~'s Avatar
My dear friend Virgil, if you lived down here, you would likely believe it. But, the point is not R.L. The point is, the practice is rampant so, I took down his pic because I don't want this to be about him. I'll take me camera out with me tomorrow. Day or night...
  18. Virgil's Avatar
Ok. Thanks. You didn't have to. Let me also say, if true, it's despicable.
  19. ~Sophia~'s Avatar
Yes. Despicable is the word. The whole thing is despicable. He is only one of thousands, over the years, millions. In this place, where God pretends to be everywhere, it will not die easy. Thanks for your comments!

Limbaugh himself is the king of personal attacks that are unfair, not to mention right-wing extremist views that have no validity.

Darth Martha, oh, Sophia, that is both chilling and funny, you are wonderfully complex. and yeah, the parents thing, everyone has something, some worse than others.
