Wind as Desire

Wind as Desire
Desire so often
compared to fire
passion burns they say
It is easy to see
how the wild tempest
is said to rage
all consuming
But there is something
they so often forget
how fire can be tempered
controlled, made lesser
stroked into a fury
It is true sometimes
fire may slip out of control
untamed burn free
taking everything in its path
Mayhap's love can be said
to be thus as fire is
but desire has no ability
to ration, desire unlike
love does not temper
though all at once
it may vanquish
So it can only be said
that desire is more
truly like the wind
Wind rages strong at times
without bond, unattained
with fierce countenance
demanding attention
stirring up all within its
path until at last fulfilled
Yet at times it is still
instantaneously dissipating
the whims of the wind without
explanation
Even so wind can never
be caught, held in hand
analyzed, brought out
by human will
Wind alone roams freely
obeying no rules of man
or any reason, and this
is what desire is.
