I read this poem somewhere and loved, I mean loved it.
Of Teardrops and Stars
I wrote this for someone special some five years ago, but I never heard from him after I sent this. I don't know if the format got skewed or this didn't reach him. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this.
I see your lips so soft, so full, moving,
Forming syllables and words that my eyes cannot read.
Your voice is slightly muffled, but my ears hear you.
I step closer, pressing my ear against the thin wall, trading the pleasure of
Drinking and tasting every drop of you with my eyes.
With the sound of your voice now clearer,
Your voice that stirs every inch of fiber of my being,
I close my eyes,
And dive
Into the ocean of words unknown,
Of alien words and foreign sounds.
I try to hear, hear past the sparkling background
That accompanies your song.
Yes, your song
Of endless sands of stars,
Like an ode to the heavens echoing eternally,
Yet
My body's ears fail.
Though clearer your voice is to me,
It is as good as muffled like before I
Held my breath, and ceased hearing,
Trading the ecstasy of
Drinking and tasting every drop of you with my ears.
With the soul just beyond your voice, now apparent,
It reaches out, breaking the glass without a sound,
As I let my own soul
See, and hear, and smell, and taste, and feel
What you are sharing, what you are giving-
A part of your being, reaching through
The hard, solid glass wall.
Against my closed eyelids,
Tears shine, like stars
Hanging onto the midnight of my eyelashes,
Threatening to spill over
The crescent shape of my cheeks,
And they fall,
Like stars falling,
My tears spill, and slide downward,
Kissing the glass barrier
That physically contain, yet
Cannot truly separate.
No barrier can hold, no enclosure can contain
Such spirit, such giving soul
As one galaxy cannot contain
All the stars of Creation.
You touched my heart.
You touched my soul.
You are not so far away.
