I went to a Celtic Woman concert last night and....I'm in Heaven!!!!! They are AMAZING! The ladies had new dresses on and just sang beautifully. It's so surreal, I can't believe I saw them live! Unfortunately Meav my favorite wasn't there. She and the new singer Hayley Westenra have been alternating throughout the tour as Hayley is a solo artist as well as a Celtic Woman singer and Meav has a baby to take care of. But Hayley did a tiptop job with Meav's work. I was miffed that I wouldn't be able to hear Meav sing Dulaman (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pH7sg3UjVIQ) but Hayley did a really great job with it and i hope she records it sometime . Not long ago I posted the lyrics for Dulaman on this blog. Orinoco Flow, At the Ceili, Mo Ghile Mear, and Sing Out were showstoppers. And that firebrand of a fiddler Mairead! OMGA she's amazing!!! Granuaile's Dance and The Butterfly!!! At the next to last she did this INCREDIBLE solo that was just so much fun! And it wasn't even listed in the program! Mairead also is a solo artist of no mean merit. They had, as in the video, a costume change. The first set was in elegant white or lightly blue evening gowns festooned with sparkly stuff that caught in the lights and shimmered gorgeously. The second set, Lisa wore a lovely bare-shouldered emerald green dress with a corseted bodice with a row of gems around the top and a long ruffled skirt. She had her hair in bangs this time; not with a side split as she did in the video. Hayley was in a flame colored gown (she's really tall) that really emphasized her elegance. Chloe in a gorgeous royal blue gown with a blue lace bolero, I think it's called, and a jewelled tiara on her head. Orla was in a royal blue gown with a purple bow around her waist and in a patch at the bottom of her skirt. Mairead was in a multicolored gown that had a blue bodice and a skirt in strips of flame-colored orange, emerald green, and purple, festooned with sparkly stuff. Gorgeous! Now whenever I listen to Vivaldi's Rain I always see Chloe in the sparkly dress and tiara. Here are some more links to music by Celtic Woman.
