Four years , can you really believe its been that long? I recently had to write an learning and professional development report on the last 4 years of my life, and I just had to mention the litnet , its affected my life THAT much!!
Firstly, let’s face it this place is amazing it really is, and to borrow Aimus’s word of the week AWESOMNESS abides here. Not least because we are all such awesomely brilliant people. Honestly Im speechless wordless whatever it is when you type pretty much what is there to say except HURRAY for the litnet, though it has changed rather alot over the last 4 years its real esscence as it were hasn’t, and may it never.
Some of my favourite people in the world are here on the litnet an d yeah.... I know I should say more but it seems my brain is all shut down following my research project my brain just shuts down when it sees a word document writing 10,000 words+ in 10 days will do that to you apparantly.. oh hey the acknowledgments for that has references to the litnet, want to see? I am going to show you anyway...
Ok so I have slightly edited it, in the original its a wee bit more formal and I had to cut a couple of people out because of word count and I had to list all the organisations and official people who gave me permission to carry out my resreach.Special thanks needs to go to Papayahed whose complaints about her new library ( in America) and the services it provided in comparison to her previous library ( also in America) sparked the conversation that led me to questioning the assumptions made about the wants and needs of library users and to try and find out what these are for myself. Kilted Exile, thank you for pointing out the major flaw in methodology, also while complaining about his local library (in Canada), and thereby rescuing me from certain disaster. Scheherazade, Makning me jealous with all the wonderful things in her library ( England) made me think that we really could improve, exponatioanlly. Aimus’s experiences with his local library (the netheralnds) and comments on it also went into colouring the rational So thank you both! Niamh last but most definitely but not least thank you for being a sounding board and listening to hours and hours and hours of alternating complaints and gushing.
In the last year I have met up with 2 litnetters, yes count them 2 that is one more than I knew in RL last year, and I am gradually amassing more until; one day I will have an entire wall covered with litnet people photographs!
Now that I am about to finish Uni, really hadn’t finished school when I joined the litnet... wow just wow, I am hoping to have MORE TIME, so I will once again be able to join in book clubs properly oh and the Live read will be running again this year folks, so I’ll be needing recommendations again soon.
You’re the best keep smiling people!!
