Oh have you seen my thread and poll considering whether it's ok for men to cry? It's here: http://www.online-literature.com/for...ad.php?t=42028. I would love to see your vote and comments, though i'm sure which side you'd fall on.

Interesting. It's certainly a good idea, saying we should not dwell on those things which cause us temporary unhappiness but focus on going on with our life. Thanks for the reminder. :)

I remember there was this old saying, and now I cannot remember just where I heard it or the details, but the basic gist of it was, you should only cry once over anything, becasue beyond that there is no point to do so and contininuing to do so will not resolve anything. So after you get it out of your system once you should be over it and move on with your life.

It seems somewhat similar to something I recently read by a Buddhist Lama, Lama Yeshe. He said that sometimes we express anger, thinking that it is the only or right way to deal with the emotion. We express it, thinking that by expressing it goes away. But actually we are only practicing expressing anger, we are only creating a pattern by which the afflictive emotion will certainly run through again.

Of course I don't have the exact words of Lama Yeshe, but it was something to that effect.

I kind of agree with you Muse I am not much of a crier. But there are rare times when things get to me and I can not help it.

I've always had a feeling that we were very different people, Muse, this just confirms it... I, personally, believe that as many times as you need to cry over something, you should, otherwise you're only repressing an emotion and exacerbating the problem. Obviously, that isn't the same for everybody, and what works for one, may not work for another.
