Future treats :D

Ok so I was number crunching today ( doesnt seem like it from the buzzziness Ive bneen having tonight does it, but I was dead serious earlier. And I have decided that as soon as I get a job the first thing Im going to treat myself to once I get a job and can safly afford to do so is an e-reader! Ive wanted one of these since I ailed an exam the first year because we had an article abut the technologies behind them to review and I jsut sat there for the whole 2 and half hours going I WANT ONE, is this real or did the lecture make this up to test us, are they theoretical or already out on the market?!!!
So I have loads of questions like wil the linet be compatible with them? Will they all accept kindle books, or am I going to have to buy an amaxon kindle? etc
I also figure that even if everything goes fantastically beyond my wildest dreams, itll probably be nearly christmas 2010 before I can safly afford to splurge that much, so no expensive holidays or books in the meantime I guess !

Now the point of this bblog is really to find out if anyone ha had one of them, has one of them what you think of them does anyone know anymore than me about them... etc

There is a thread about them in the gen lit section, dont think I'd get one myself(eyes get sore reading a screen after a while)

dont think it would be the same as holding a book. I started reading North and South here and ended up buying the book to finish reading it because i couldnt take the light from the computer for too long.

the idea is that the nonflicker techonlogy prevents that, but Iread only e books for years, but since Ive been spoilt with books I find sitting at a computer to read agrivating as when Im on the litnet I tend too be on the forums part, so I just want to be bale to cart the books around with me so I can finally complete the litnet challenge!

The first time I read north and south it was the summer holiday my dad was away and I snuck into mu mums room 9 where thje compouter was and read all night, I finished it at 3:45 am and the birds were just waking up and the bats were making noises on the balcony so really I have no problem reading it online

Those ereaders are fascinating, and tempting but I'm with Kilt, I have a hard time focusing on a screen. My mind just wonders, sort of like attention deficit disorder. I would love to read some of the longer short story stuff on lit net and comment, but I just can't concentrate for long and I'm not going to print them out.

I'm with you nightie. I'm completely intrigued by ereaders. On my hair forum everybody that has ereaders raved about them, they say the screen is like a sheet of paper so that pesky light isn't an issue.

Well, if it's like a sheet of paper than perhaps I might. I will have to play with one first. How much do they cost around? But I also like to make notes in my books. Does the ereader allow me to do that?

I've barely any idea about them, but good luck in getting one if you decide you do still really really want one!

Some of them do Virgil, plus what Id relly love to do is convince Admin to somehow get the subscription theing working with the e-readxers then I could make notes on the litnet challeneg and have them turn up on the litnet! Thats the other thing Im going to treat myself to, the life long subscription to the litnet!

Night my friend has one of them and I have to say I don't mind using it every now and again. My eyes tend to play up if I use it to much in one sitting - that in my case is not such a bad thing though.
