the ice storm

The storm was really bad. Power poles broke in two under the weight of the ice. Lines are down EVERYWHERE. We could be without power for another three weeks. People in town are lost. IT's almost dangerous to be in town. People in the country are better equiped to deal with it. We have a generator that we run for an hour in the morning and one in the evening. Then my husband takes it around to the neighbors and runs it at their houses to keep their deep freezers frozen and let them draw water.

We have it pretty good really. I can cook on the wood stove and we've had some really yummy meals. I had to do wash in 5gl. buckets yesterday. It wore me out! all of our big trees are badly damaged. we'll have to cut three down and maybe more. A county crew was able to clear the dirt road yesterday. Every time we go out we have to take chainsaws to cut our way through to where ever we are going and when it's time to come back more trees are down so we have to cut our way back again.

I just had a few minutes to get on and do homework, but where am I ... HERE!

I hope you are all well. Shalot, did you get any of the bad stuff? I hope you are well, too!

Holy Toledo. That stinks about the trees, but glad to her everyone's ok. We got a little bit of the storm down here, we actually got snow and a nice frost on the ground. It was weird because it was foggy (100% humidity) and snow.

Well, I'm glad you're ok. I've heard on the news about your power being down. I guessed you might have a generator, and your husband is so nice to go to the neighbors and power them up. Best of luck and let's hope it won't take three weeks.

Wow, that is truly awful. It is wonderful of your family to share that generator, that is so nice of you. Please take care until things are back to normal.
    **hugs**

I hope that things will get better soon. We're still cleaning up the mess around here too from the same storm, so hopefully you are getting the couple of days of warmer weather we've had here. Then we get to worry over flodding though  Much Love, Meg
