Possible Disaster Minus 10 Months

The day started off on a high note. The Long Suffering Spouse had been doing quite well with her new car payments these past three months while I have been coping with inheriting the other bills she was responsible for.
Note the word "had".
She starts with complaining about her paycheck tomorrow which is a pittance indeed what with cut hours and free internship hours taking up the income. I remind her that this is the week payment #69 of 72 is due.
Oh oh.
I'm getting the look.
And about to be blamed.
"I don't have it. I had to dip into it."
This is a little over $300 of dipping. How much does she have.
If you guessed $81 you were off by one.
I'm relatively calm but this just means I'll explode on Friday if I stick to my usual reaction time to unpleasant surprises that were somewhat avoidable.
I say goodby to a number of things. Avengers, DVDs, and potato chips. I begin to laugh.
Well of course a variation of I Told You So got mentioned. I remind her I'm stretched to the breaking point if not seamlike cracks. But by golly I'll get her through this one.
"Well that's what husbands are for!!"
This just brings to mind my past failures and I shrug them aside wondering if I'll ever forgive myself for certain things.
I sigh and get ready to clean up. Then a light beams forth. By helping her I am now entitled to a piece of the car. I begin singing--badly:
To the tune of Banana Boat Song:
Day!!! Day--O!!
Daylight come and I buy a rear fender.
Day!!! Day-Oh!!
Daylight comes and I own a right fender.
She finds an extra wallet that has $120 in it. That will help.

Believe it or not (how cliche) THISwas NOT the worse news of the day. I was on a day off but I called Brandy (who knows ALL my secrets) to chortle when a bomb is dropped and my life is about to change -- again.
Not necessarily in a good way.
Miami Valley is being bought by the Cincinnati Club (which themselves got bought by New Hartford CT AAA a year or so back. There had been rumors of merging (with California for instance--they came and looked at us last year) but this is too close to home territory wise.
There will meetings later (this just happened today). Current info implies that I'll be gainfully employed through the end of the year though ownership changes in May apparently.
I freely confess I am far from ready for this--very far. The Drama Queen is frothing at the bit to get started. Ruth was at her clinic doing internship that's part of her college work. None of my boys were home to talk to and I didn't want to talk to Sandy. Both friends Jerry and Steve had voice mail and a certain moderator STILL won't give me her phone number.
This may work out fine in the long run. It may not. Stay tuned.
