Johnny Depp

I really like Johnny Depp. And so, I suspect, do many others. So here are some quotes from a Life Story magazine on him.

On children (he has a boy, Jack, and a girl, Lily-Rose) he says in answer to the question, "How did becoming a father change you?,

now you can sort of really go, "Oh, p*** off. I'm just going to play Barbies with my daughter."
He says that to paparazzi! Who'd say something like that?

On Edward Scissorhands,

One of the best things that ever happened to me was that after Edward Scissorhands, I started getting letters from little children. They responded to Edward and felt connected to his spirit. Little kids were coming up to me -- five-year-olds. I spent time in homes for kids and runaways, and they seemed to connect deeply with that idea of being considered a freak, that everything you touch breaks. Sometimes I still feel that way myself.
I hope this won't sound completely corny, but I loved playing Edward so much, because there is nothing cynical or jaded or impure about him; nothing mean about him. It's almost a letdown to look in the mirror and realize I'm not Edward. I really miss him.
On Tim Burton (with whom he's collaborated on five films,)

It's all about trust. I trust him completely. I would try anything for him.
On Peter Pan.

It's truly a work of genius. It's a masterpiece of imagination, and the result of the most remarkable inspiration. It's one of those rare perfect things in the world that will always be with us, and this was a wonderful opportunity to explore where such a powerful story might come from.
And finally, on CAPTAIN JACK!!!

What's amazing to me is I didn't do anything different with him than I would have done with any other character, you know what I mean? I just did the same job that i always do. But somehow the film hit, and now I meet these little kids who go, 'Man! You're Captain Jack!' And you can see in their eyes that it'snot Johnny Depp. They're meeting Captain Jack. God, what a high that is. That you're somehow pierced that curtain and I have made and effect to some degree.
There's more if you guys want.....?

*EDIT* no, I am not a screaming fangirl. I promise.

The only film I ever saw Depp in was ED WOOD. Despite the films quirks, inaccuracies and overstated acting and screenplay (of course, that's Tim Burton), the film was GREAT. Johnny Depp's portrayal of the most outrageously untalented talents ever to come out of Hollywood (or somewhere) Ed Wood, was Masterful. He made what could have merely passed for a so-so film into something wonderful. Depp is a fine actor and I have to make it my business to see more of his stuff. (There's one more comment, andave; thanks for your feedback on my questionable blog) Regards,
