Halls of the Dark Muse

My Heart Flown Away

I was so lonely
watching out the window
wondering where my heart
has gone

For it must have flown
away, away, somewhere
to find another day

And here I was left
in yesterday, cast
aside never to see tomorrow

It is so unfair
painted in shades of gray
that the color has faded away

For my heart
it has escaped
and now I cannot find
where its wandered too

I thought it might
stay at least awhile
but someone left open
the door of my cage

My wings are clipped
so I cannot follow
while I think I glimpsed
my heart upon the winds

So I am sorry
on a rainy day
that I must remain
never to be fully captured.
