Sir, I Salute You

I can hear you, the rest of the world can hear you and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon.
The deliberate and deadly attacks which were carried out yesterday against our country were more than acts of terror. They were acts of war.
This way of life is worth defending.
I believe that God has planted in every human heart the desire to live in freedom. And even when that desire is crushed by tyranny for decades, it will rise again.
I have followed my conscience and done what I thought was right.
We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail.
Sir, what I admire about you is the moral clarity, the grit and determinism to follow through, and when we were punched in the nose, you didn’t accept to serve our enemies legal papers, you got us up and punched back. Sir, I know a good part of the nation tired, but not all and certainly you did not, and in the end you and we did not fail. For this you will always be in my high esteem.
