Catching Up!

Gotta love those Prairie sunsets!
It was a busy holiday season, very very cold but very enjoyable. We had relatives come in from another province, so were quite busy on that note. Oh I DO love the holidays!
My husband discovered Ebay, say no more ...
However, I do get some time on this computer, lol.
I'm just looking at the Christmas tree we have all decorated in the front room, and rue the fact that after all is over, we have to dismantle, tuck away, and wait another year to do it all over again. I always try to get a new ornament to commemorate each year. This year, my friend Billy's sister made me a really cute stuffed snowman.
My hubby gave me a digital camera for Christmas, and I totally loved this -- however, it takes me a bit to get used to change. Neurotic? Dunno, but honest, I have a problem when my world changes and I have to get things back on track. But I have been reading the manual that came with it, and will start playing with it. In the meantime, I took an assortment of photos with the ol' cellphone camera (dang that thing rocks!)
Here is a view of the Skating Shack (that's what we call it) at my beloved Duck Pond just past midnight the day after Christmas (note that it is WAY too cold to set an iceskate on that pond, I am waiting for the temps to come down some, as in about thirty degrees!!):
The day before New Year's Eve, we had a visitor in our yard, unbeckoned, of course. It appears that a deer jumped the fence and was looking to partake in some of the branches of the trees in the yard. Sadly, she (no rack on the head = female, lol) bolted when Pepper discovered the visitor. All I saw was a blur of black (Pepper has black fur, but you knew that, lol) running around in the yard and the deer bolted back from whence she came. Luckily I got the photo before the chase scene unfolded...
While I was making a broccoli cheese casserole to take to my mother & father's place for the Christmas dinner, I had such nice views as I prepared the dish. My kitchen window has a habit of frosting over -- we must get new windows (hopefully bay-style, she said wistfully), but anyhow, here's the view I enjoyed as I cooked:
On Christmas Eve, I was doing the last minute thing, scuttling about to ensure that friends/relatives received their gifts, and whilst driving home, the most beautiful sunset ever was going on. Of course I had to pull the car over to the side of the road and catch this forever in, yes, you guessed it, the camera of my trusty cellphone!
This last photo was taken (cellphone) while my best friend Billy and I were in a rustic restaurant with huge windows and a view to die for. It really was breathtaking, and so much fun having the 'last coffee of the year' with my best bud:
So there you have it. How I spent my holiday season. I didn't do much shopping, as I really hate huge crowds, and the mood of shoppers after the Christmas rush is not that 'holly jolly', as the song goes.
I am struggling to stay warm and my skates are sharpened and ready to go, as soon as the thermometer says so.
In the meantime, take care, hope you all had a wonderful and heart-warming season with your friends and loved ones,
K♥zzo
