A Girl Alone in the World

A Girl Alone in the World

Her eyes cried,
tears fallen from the sun,
bitter days passed
and she found herself
standing alone

Looking for philosophy
among the stars,
she spoke in the language
of the crickets

Seeking to find
some meaning
that runs deeper
then the river bed
where the stones
are cool against her feet

A sense of being,
quiet discovery
of knowing she is all alone
where the world has left her,
but some peace is found
within

She stretches her arms
to the sky and wonders
at catching a shooting star,
knowing it would burn
through her soul.

I am way behind in catching up blog reading so I'll just jump in here. This one leaves me torn in too many directions. Had to read the second twice and actually use my imagination to make it work. Probably comes of too much reading the Bible literally (though we are aware of symbolism but avoid getting immersed in Revelation as a result). But as always there is pathos in your verse I give you that.
