The ICEman Cometh

I loved that play. Eugene O'Neill is wonderful.

The weather man is predicting ICE in a big way. They have already cautioned people to lay in the supplies they need for the next week and go straight home from work tomorrow. It should start sometime in the afternoon.

He just said that it could be like the event we had ten years ago. In January of 1999 I was hugely pregnant with Chaney and our power was off for more than a week. We had wood heat and a six bedroom house so everyone in the neighborhood came to stay with us. It was a good time. We made beans on the wood stove and I even make biscuits in the ash pan. We played a lot of cards- A LOT.

I’m hoping for maybe two snow days but no more. When it’s snow the kids can play outside, but when it’s ice they can’t. I have some projects and some special meals planned just in case, but I don’t want to have to face a week of cabin fever.

    =O!!! What a forecast! I hope the weather stays nice-ish for you, though the group gathering in your home sounds rather fun!

    Hey, you keep warm and safe, M-H! And that home of yours sounds right cozy indeed! If it comes down to it, be sure to have lots of firewood ready to go! (that does sound like fun -- I think I want a woodstove, for those just-in-case times -- if my grandma did it, why couldn't I?)

    They are calling school off so I'm about to gather all of my chicks and head for the house. I'm going to build a HUGE fire and put my pajamas on. I'm excited! I hope the kids are as excited as I am. Becca, Kiz, and PnB- thanks for the warm wishes. I hope it's fun. I have been trying to do a little more planning for activities and I think we'll be in good shape. My big hope is that our power doesn't go out.

    You and your family take care and stay warm. We've similar coming our way I hear, and I'm sort of looking foward to it. Now if only I could find the hats and gloved I bought for my little ones that they seem to have misplaced:). Much Love, Meg

    errk! Snow!!! It snows sometimes at the college I got accepted to -- and that's what I'm most nervous about! Have fun with the kids, and send my love to Bailey. Haven't talked to her in a while!

    *sigh* When will winter end. It will reach us tomorrow night. You know I've never read The Ice Man Cometh, and I like O'Neill. I keep telling myself to read more O'Neill but I never have the opportunity.

    Andave- snow is no problem. It's ice that's bad!

    Virgil- Iceman would only take an afternoon. It really is good. not as good as long days journey, but close
