One of the tenets of my faith as a Christian is the doctrine of the total depravity of man. In its simplest form it means there is nothing to commend a person as acceptable in the eyes of God except thru the blood of the Lord Christ due to the holiness of God.

Therefore I spend much time examining my misspent life looking for the flaws and sins for excuses not to do even lip service to Christian service. Yes I blame Job for this. If there is one thing I know very very well is you can make the Bible say whatever you want if you work at it--not really hard once you apply basic selfishness to it.

Fortunately I also believe that God has his own opinion and is not overly concerned with mine. One almost imagines a smile as of a father to a son though often I hear echoes of "O foolish Galatians."

Sigh.

Last night while I was dusting the Bible off my mind ran to recent and past relationships with the females I have blessed and cursed with over the years and it hit like a lightning bolt.

After almost 50 years I have found the answer to my women problems. Invariably it starts each and every time with the idea that I am SPECIAL to them. That I am somehow different or more entitled to consideration and esteem then other mere mortal men.

Which explains why I have a regular diet of crow and lungs full of dust. Sweetened with gentle laughter of sweet spirited harpies.

Do I expect to learn from this? Probably not. But I hope to avoid as many slings and arrows of outrageous fortune in the future.
