Night at the Bazaar
Remember the night at the bazaar,
full of exotic wonder,
aromas from the East;
t a n t a l i z i n g
Dusky smoke lingering
as we pass through
feeling somehow cleansed
of the world around us
Painted ladies with rouge lips
and purple eyes,
dark hair in heavy drapes;
call with sultry voices;
long nails beckon to investigate
i n t r i g u i n g wares
Fingers interlocked
holding hands as we walked
across the sandstone
still warm while the moon
shined brightly
Do you recall the feeling of foreignness
as if we stepped into a whole
new world that did not
belong to us, yet we did not care
Heavy food hung in the air
i r r e s i s t i b l e
sweet delicacy touched
upon the tongue
It was a night unforgettable
beneath the stars that seemed
so touchable when under
an Eastern sky
But alas it was only
a single night
filled with sensational
b e a u t y.
