end of semester & end of shopping

Rate this Entry
I just finished my last big project for the semester. I only have finals to study for now. I’m so happy. I almost feel liberated. I made some Bs this semester and I really am fine with that. I said in the beginning I wouldn’t push for all As this time and it’s helped make things easier for my family.

I finished my Christmas shopping today. I had two gifts left to order. I think I’ve mentioned before that we aren’t big into gifts and toys and accumulation of crap which means I had very little shopping to do in the first place. But, it’s still nice to be done. I try to give each gift a lot of consideration and make sure it’s personal, useful, and something that the receiver will enjoy. This year I really came up with some great things that my kids will be delighted with. Bailey’s got two gifts that she is going to really love. One she knows about so I’ll tell- it’s a beautiful print by Georga O’Keefe. The other thing is the coolest gift anyone is getting this year, but she doesn’t know what it is so I can’t tell. I’m really proud of it. It’s not something one would normally think of and she’ll love it. It makes me excited about Christmas.

what are your coolest gift ideas over the years?

Congratulations!! Frankly I can't remember any of my gifts. My wife will kill me for that because I'm sure she has given wonderful gifts. I am sooo absent minded. In all fairness I'm hard to shop for; I don't ask for much.

I absolutely and terrible with gift ideas. The long suffering one is very hard to by for and I refuse to buy big ticket items anymore because they end unused in the closet (Video camera). Me I'm way to easy to please so no challenge there. Just grab somehting out of my file at the Bookery. So I admire anyone who actually can pull a meaningful Christmas off.

Cool, I love Georgia O'Keefe. I know what you mean about trying to buy meaningful gifts, I would rather buy someone nothing than the gifty-type rubbish that floods the shops this time of year. I've pretty much got my bases covered, except for my mother who is incredibly difficult to buy for. But I've still got time to think of something.

Congratulations on your grades: B's are nothing to be ashamed of and if you can base at B's then A's are achievable. I envy you your studying. I'd love to study but I just don't have the time, but maybe one day I will. You never know.

My coolest gift ideas? Hmm. For my husband's last birthday we didn't have much money so I gave him a hand-made book of stories I had written especially for him. It was a lot of work, and the craft work is a bit iffy, but I was especially proud of that.
