Halls of the Dark Muse

My Love Is True

My Love Is True

I feel my heart once more spring back into life
through the deepest darkness my journey took me
now the storm has passed and calm replaced all strife

It is by the grace of your love that I'm free
how could I have thought for a moment to doubt
while deep inside the truth I could always see

From my soul I must now cast old demons out
for once again you lift me so high above
my new found joy to the heavens I would shout

Nothing can be found more constant then your love
yet time again I give myself to despair
will you always catch me on the wings of a dove

For my heart and soul only you can repair
being with you is like floating on the air.

How'd a love sonnet get into the dark hall? Another impressive effort, but do I sense you struggled with some word selections? Just curious.

I too was warmed to the cockles of my shell sized heart at the concept of a joyful blushing in love Dark Muse. Always knew your waters were deep.

It is a rather good effort Muse. I do like it and it is surprising you would write a sonnet, and a love sonnet at that.

    This section raised my interest:
From my soul I must now cast old demons out
for once again you life me so high above
my new found joy to the heavens I would shout
"you life me so" is a interesting way to use the noun "life" and make it a verb.

Yes I know it is shokcing for once I wrote something not dark and dreary. This is a style known as a Teza Rima sonnet.

LOL, acutally that is a typo, it should be lift.

Not to pick on you or anything, but now that you mention typos, is there one at the end of the first verse? Did you intend strife instead of strike? I was intrigued by the line as written -- "now the storm has passed and calm replaced all strike." It had me wondering in what meaning you meant strike. Is the narrator coming out of an abusive relationship and calmed by the shelter of this new love? What else could strike mean? Uh, strife? I just read it again and I like it even more.

Hahaha, yes it is is suppose to be strife. And it is meant to be more of an inner conflict, a struggle with fears and doubts starting to rise.
