Tattered Lace
I spasm inside myself
slowly feeling my mind
deteriorate
My brain pounding
as my heart stops
I am sinking
into myself
Feel the grave
around the edges
cold and hard to the touch
A vein pulses with life
how life seems so far away
upon a distant plain
Always alone
my soul splits
torn and twisted
watching the rain
through fallen tears
In silence I wait
for passing eternities
I am Mariana
a dying romantic
Ideals will tatter
covered in cobwebs
while still I gaze
out the window
into the fog.
*Mariana is a reference of the Tennyson poem of that same name
