Halls of the Dark Muse

What to do.....

For my English we have this extra credit project we can do. We are currently reading The Big Money by Dos Passos, and sense Thanksgiving is coming up and we do not get the week off, only the day of, my teacher decided not to make her students come to class the day before Thanksgiving but instead is doing this online discussion, this extra credit thing is part of that.

So anyway, she provided a list of topics that are directly related to the book, the author, or the time period of what was going on with the depression, and whoever wants to participate picks a topic to research and write a paragraph on, and I am stuck between two different topics.

I cannot decide between either

Sergei Eisenstein who is a Russian film director that invented the use of montage (which is a device Dos Passos uses in the book). That one sounded interesting because I am into film and because I am going to be seeing my sister this weak end, and I would be surprised if she did not study him in film school.

or

Hearst Castle, which I just think is cool, and I have been there a few times, and I think the history around it is interesting, and it is the closest thing to a Castle where I live.

I would go with the use of montage. That sounds more interesting. You can come up with some interesting thoughts there. The Hearst Castle subject is limiting. Other than reciting the obvious and the propaganda, what original thought can one put toward that? But that's just me.

I also thought about doing Sacco and Vanzetti but I wrote a paper about them in high school. Though I find thier case interesting, it would not really be anything new for me.
