Hello dear reader,
I have once again reached the stage where my bordem has inspired me to submit another blog entry. Litnet members, I apologize for torturing you with the details of my boring day to day life.
Oddly enough, I have quite a variety of things I wish to discuss this evening which I suppose is good.
A fortnight ago, I embarked on a trip to Belgium in order to visit a series of museums, war cemeteries and trenches. In all honesty? The museums bored the living daylights out of meThe war cemeteries were particularly haunting I must say; very somber places...
But I did actually have one of the most bizzare, fun and enlightening experiences of my life on this trip. This was at a place named "Vimmy Ridge," just north of the Somme, where the trenches are so very well preserved. We were permitted to wander through the underground trench tunnels - some of them stretching the whole length of the trench area. Upon entering this tunnel, It was brought to my attention that I was not going to see the light of day for at least 5 minutes; I then spent this time staggering through uneven, very puddly terrain, praying to God I'd get out without trench foot. I do feel ever so slightly guilty; about halfway through my little excursion I was starting to get a little scared and called out for the "guide" (It was just me and herself in there).
"Excuse me? Are you still there?"
"Yes, hello?"
"Emmm... I can't see and I'm not sure where I am"
"Okay, heres my arm, just grab onto it and don't be so worried"
I literally grabbed onto her arm for dear life, I think she may still be recovering![]()
Never a dull moment eh? Futhermore, on my ferry crossing back over the channel, we were apparently hit by a 25ft wave!
I thank you for reading (if you did).
Regards,
LadyW.
