This month we have selected two poems from The Personal Poetry Forum, posted during the month of October, to feature in the Litnet Monthly News! I hope you like them too!

Nocturne By Firefangled
Sleep is a map of glass,
no matter where it leads
you are lost;
the night may speak to you with its wings,
its songs made of silk,
yet you know only your dreams
of walking where the streets are water,
copper gutters dripping
their blue light through the halo of gas lamps,
you following the rhythm of boot heels,
as lightning soundlessly cracks the fragile sky—
all is forgotten now,
the glass darkens, the mute stars
show where you have been,
your feet are moving without you.

Christmas Parody By Pendragon

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
Decided that he’d had his dose
Of all the other reindeer
Cracking jokes about his nose

So he looked up recipes for venison,
Bought him a shiny gun
Then he sat back and waited
For more insults to come…

One dark and dreary Christmas Eve
The reindeer gathered around to say:
“Hey! Rudolph your nose is so bright
You look just like a big stop light!”

Then how the reindeer scattered,
When the gun came into play
He had the market cornered on venison
When they opened on Christmas Day!
(This one was too funny to resist!)

Lit Net Book Reviews

This month’s book review was randomly selected from the Write a book Review sub-forum in general Literature.
The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4 by Sue Townsend

A look into Adrian's life as he goes through pains of growing up. He shares his views on the world around him in general and on the adult affairs. He is so busy being critical of others that he fails to see his own selfishness which makes him very endearing. He is a mixture of Holden Caulfield of Catcher in the Rye and Christoper Boone of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.

Townsend's idea of introducing Adrian through his own diary entries work out brilliantly and makes an entertaining and rewarding read.

8/10 KitKats!
Scheherazade

Letters to the Editor

Dear LitNet Newsletter:
The Short Story Forum can make for
interesting reading, but my rapidly aging eyes hurt. Could there be a notice asking members posting short stories to skip a space between paragraphs? It's very difficult to read solid blocks of text.
Sincerely,
AuntShecky
Just want to mention that Dec 15 is Virgil's birthday and we should all wish him a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! -His friends on Litnet.

Special Thanks

I would like to thank everyone who helped contribute to this edition, whether they were aware they were contributing or not!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Yours truly
