I'm in a quandary. When I was in San Diego, I showed some friends the songs on my current favorite cd, Celtic Woman: A New Journey. I asked them if they liked it. Their answer. "Yeah, we enjoy practically every kind of music. Except new rock, pop, rap and that sort of stuff."
So I asked them, "Do you have any favorite music?"
"No. It really depends on the mood."

Which I agree, but how can I tell whether or not they liked the music? They sat through nearly the entire cd and I had no way of telling whether or not they liked it enough for all that or whether or not they're just being polite. What would you do? Did I make an idiot of myself?

If you go to the top of the page, and click cd, you can listen to two of the songs on the cd I showed them. The two that you can listen to are The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun and Beyond the Sea. Both are absolutely beautiful, and the second one is actually a very early rock song sung by Bobby Darin. Celtic Woman took the song and "celticized" it. tell me what you think.

I'm not really into Celtic Music (I have a friend who is, however), but your friends' generalized apathy towards music is puzzling. I'm with you - how can they NOT know?
I can only guess that some people are insensitive to art; that is, they don't have the internal mind/soul/heart that responds to art on a deep level. That's why they don't have a preference.

yes, you're probably right. What would the music you like be classified under? I visited your blog but I've never heard of any of those artists.
I daresay you already know this judging from the number of posts on music, but I love music. almost as much as books.
