bunnies

We have two very pretty and soft looking bunnies at my house now. I need to find my camera so I can post some pictures. I bet Bailey knows where it is…

We’ve named the buck Stewart (Stew) and the doe Dumplin’. She was breaded with a different buck yesterday so any doe babies can mate with Stew. The gestation period for a rabbit is 28-35 days with an average of 31 days. That means that around this time next month I will have baby bunnies. I’m excited. Bunnies don’t have fur when they are born, but they grow up quickly. The girls will be ready to mate when they are about four months old. The doe is white and she has pink eyes and the buck is kind of yellow like a tabby cat. I like the buck better. He is less shy and prettier than the doe.

My dog doesn’t know what to make of them. He’s very worked up and I can tell he feels a since of responsibility. Right now he’s sitting under their cages to get a good sniff of them, but I don’t think that will last long. They make a huge amount of excrement.

Rabbit poop is great for the garden and it doesn’t get hot and burn your plants like other kinds of litter.

OK, I just learned something. I never knew a male rabbit is called a buck and a female a doe.
Wouldn't it be great if humans can give birth in only 31 days!!
I wouldn't have guessed that rabbits make a huge amt of poop.
When you find your camera not only take pictures of the rabitts but also your dog. I don't recall you posting a picture yet.
    Enjoy your bunnies!!

I haven't posted any of JoJo yet and he's so big now. I can't believe how quickly he grew. I really think that growing so fast has to hurt. I bet he's as big as your dog and he's only around six or eight months old (shameful me, I can't remember) He is so handsome. If her were an inside dog he would have a beautiful snow white coat. I can’t keep him clean and I understand that I shouldn’t wash him because it will strip his coat of oils he needs to protect him from the cold and wet. I brush him to get the stickers and burs out, but 20 minutes later he’s covered again. In the mornings he’s especially filthy but in the afternoon he looks clean and white. I don’t know how that happens. And his feet are so huge, almost as big as my hand!

I have had rabbits almost all my life, currnetly I have two Bandit and Astarte. Bandit is a big boy and usually just very laid back and cool. Astarte is a complete sweetheart who adores affection. It is funny how many different personalitlies rabbitts acutally have.

I didn't know there was a rabbit allergy. These are not friendly bunnies, they just want to be left alone. They are nice to look at, though. I enjoy watching my animals and loose several hours just watching chickens scratch or bunnies wiggle their noses My dog is going nuts right now because they are cutting the hay. He doesn't even like crows to come in the yard so tractor is a real menace to him.

Well I'm allergic to most things in that family of animals. Including ferrets and guinea pigs (and sometimes cats). My friend has a bunny... I remember one time at her party we just stood and watched it for an hour or so, it was just so amusing and cute to watch

I'm just wondering when those "two very pretty and soft looking bunnies" will be dinner. I bet there is a reason why you named him Stew. Oh I would love to see pictures of JoJo. Just before I went on vacation my mother and I made and jarred tomato puree and I took pictures. I will post them shortly.

Stew is a lucky boy because he is the stud and won't end up in the pot as long as he does his job. it's a hard job but somebunny's got to do it Now the male offspring won't be so lucky.

I look forward to the pictures.

 I was wondering if you were planning to eat them. Can't really think of another reason to breed bunnies:D Stew and Dumplin... maybe you should name their first born "Crockpot" ;)

Thank you Virgil and mhockenberry-I laughed until my sides hurt. I'm still laughing! (catches breath) That's better.

Have fun with the bunnies. motherhubbard. They may have fur, but they will never be better pets than cats.
