Lady Specter
It was like a waking dream
from which I could not escape
I saw it through a cracked mirror
a distant place
I chased her through the
labyrinth gardens
the feel of the wind
and leaves against my face
But ever, ever, could I see
her face, she was a specter
a muse, a voice calling from
the grave
What could she want of me?
Never would I discover her name
I remember a child's room
where she must have once played
But now only dust and cobwebs
remain, these memories
covered in white sheets
to be hidden forever more
Somewhere there lies a secret
which still haunts these halls
and beckons me onward
I feel trapped in this maze
Laughter rings,
while ghostly steps
pass in near silence
leaving fading footprints
What could she want from me
to set her free
that I might finally
be able to get some sleep.
