Halls of the Dark Muse

The Unforgivable

Rate this Entry
This is something I wrote up for fun. In lieu of my last post about my humur that others do not get. Well this is an example of that. I wrote this poem intended it to be a bit of dark humur

The Unforgivable

You know that it is true
anything I would do for you
my loyalty is without bounds

Blood upon your hands
not a question I ask
while I throw away the gun
and dispose of the body

Upon the stands the oath I take
is a false one compared to the oath
I have given you

If ever you need an alibi
you know I am here for you
confess all your sins into my ear
and let us share in them together

Forever my lips remain sealed
if ever one would try to harm you
I will be the one to put them to rest

But there is one thing
you should never ever do
one path should not be crossed

Know I will forgive anything
but the one unforgivable sin
many may think to take the life of another
is the most vile, but that I can understand

As compassionate as I am to you
you must never (no reason will justify)
ever (no excuse will I stand by)
betray me, cheat, and lie.

For that I will surely destroy you
with my own bare hands, see it through
I promise you, it will hurt me more than you
but disloyalty is the one thing
I will never abide by from you
my one true love.

Yikes, I see why some folks might not get it. It's both twisted and kind of comic...Poe-esque. Scary and quirky.

It may just be me, but I find typos a distraction in poetry. I can't tell if it's a mispelled word or a play on words.
3rd verse - stands or stand, works either way but anticipated the singular, but there could have been multiple trials, which would make the narrator's loyalty even stronger.
Last line of 4th verse - I'm sure you mean us v. use.
I'm not being critical, but I enjoy reading poetry slowly word for word, so I usually catch this type of thing. In the rhythm of the poem, it goes clunk in my head and I have to stop and see what made the noise. Was it intentional or not. Sometimes it's just hard to tell. Good poem though.

Hehe yes it is dark and twisted. I did you stands on purpose, but the other I will go and fix, thank you for catching it.

Forewarned, forearmed. With that in mind I still name you my favorite poet though pendragon is probably jealous of the honor. Yes I thought this was witty and cute if I may use such a word in the precious of the s-e-r-i-o-u-s writer of mood and whimsy.

Thank you, yes, you may use such a word. Part of this poem was inspired by another poem I read of which I cannot recall the name of off the top of my head, that has something of a smilliar nature, and I always thought that poem was cute, while others found it distrubing.
