“The Preceptor’s Lotus Feet”

shri guru caran kamal bhaja mana,

guru kripa bina nahim koi sadhana-bala,

bhaja mana bhaja anukshana



shri guru—of the bonafide spiritual master; caran kamal—the lotus feet; bhaja—please worship; mana—O mind!; guru kripa—the mercy of the spiritual master; bina—without; nahim—there is not; koi—any; sadhana-bala—strength to practice devotion; bhaja—please worship; mana—O mind!; bhaja—please worship; anukshana—incessantly.



O mind, just worship the lotus feet of the bona fide spiritual master. Without receiving the mercy of the guru maharaja, one will not have the potency to execute regulative spiritual practices. Therefore, O my dear mind, I urge you to please worship him at every moment.

milata nahim aisa durlabha janma,

bhramata hi caudaha bhuvana

kisi ko milate hai aho bhagya se,

hari bhakton ke darshana



milata—met; nahim—not; aisa—such; durlabha janma—rare human birth; bhramata—wandering; hi—certainly; caudaha bhuvana—fourteen worlds; kisi ko—to someone; milate—gets; hai—is; aho—extremely rare bhagya—good fortune; se—he; hari bhakton—the devotees of Hari; ke—of; darshana—audience.



O mind, just worship the lotus feet of the bona fide spiritual master. While the fallen soul wanders throughout the fourteen worlds, it rarely gets an opportunity to receive a human birth. And out of so many human beings, only a few receive the extremely rare good fortune of meeting the devotees of Lord Hari.

krishna kripa ki ananda murti,

dinana karuna-nidhana

jnana-bhakti-prema tino prakashata,

shri guru patita pavana



krishna kripa ki—of Krishna’s mercy; ananda murti—the embodiment of bliss; dinana—fallen souls; karuna-nidhana—reservoir of mercy; jnana-bhakti-prema—knowledge, devotion and love; tino—three; prakashata—reveals; shri guru—divine spiritual master; patita pavana—deliverer of the fallen.



O mind, just worship the lotus feet of the bonafide spiritual master. Shri Guru is the personification of the bliss inherent in Krishna’s causeless mercy, and he is therefore the abode of mercy for souls who are suffering in the material world. He is the revealer of transcendental knowledge, pure devotion, and divine love. Shri Guru is the savior of fallen conditioned souls.

shruti-smriti iti bhashya sabhi mile,

dekhata spashta pramana

tana-mana-jivana guru-pade arpana,

sada shri hari-nama ratana



shruti-smriti—the Vedic literatures; iti—thus; bhashya—explanation; sabhi mile—all together; dekhata—is seen; spashta pramana—clear evidence; tana-mana-jivana—body, mind and life; guru-pade—to the feet of the guru; arpana—offering; sada—always; shri hari-nama—the holy names of the Lord; ratana—repetition.



O mind, just worship the lotus feet of the bonafide spiritual master. His glories are clearly confirmed by the assembly of shruti-shastras, smriti-shastras, as well as in the commentaries of the great acaryas. Just offer your body, mind, and life itself at the lotus feet of Shri Guru and always remain engaged in the chanting of Shri Hari-nama.
