A New Pleasure

I am falling in love with the writing of the 17th century, of which I previously have not read much of. But I have recently acquired an anthology of works from The Restoration and the 18th Century, and it starts with writings from the mid to late 1600's and what I have read so far, is truly quite brilliant and most entertaining. Their wit is just unsurpassed. And when they speak of religion and politics, they truly go for the jugular. They make such biting sardonic remarks, that some of the things I have read caused me to laugh out loud, and some of it is quite hysterical. They really attack each other, and put it all out there without reservation. It is delightful. They are the masters of satire. Merciless with their quills.
More people should be so bluntly honest today.
