Haha, in my advanced writing class yesterday we began a chapter about blogs. Did you know blogging only started in 1998? It's evolved so much since then....crazy.
I'm reading Hard Times by Charles Dickens. I am really enjoying it, but I know that I would enjoy it more if I weren't required to submit answers to 20 questions every two days about it. I like just reading and enjoying...all this searching for answers is really taking away from the experience for me.
I submitted my article to the student paper and, though it hasn't been published yet, I have recieved a lot of praise for it. A lot of people are talking about sending it to the local paper to publish, since this whole College Hill thing has created such a local scandal.
Let me try and explain that. I live on a small island. It's a very traditional community, and word gets around fast, so everything out of the ordinary is a scandal. BET filmed the current season of College Hill at the local college here, and in the first episode the students drank and played truth or dare, and of course dared themselves to do dirty things to each other...
Anyway, the local communitity (remember, traditional here) went into a rage. "Is that really what college kids are doing!?!? I can't believe that these are our future leaders!" Yadda yadda yadda. It seems like everyone in college knows that this is what its like, and everyone not in college had no idea that this is what its like. It doesn't help, I guess, that this college is only 45 years old and is the ONLY college in the vicinity...
To get back on point, I found this national survey of college students that talked about their drinking habits. So I conducted the same survey at my college and found that, lo and behold, yes our students drink...but not nearly as much as those national students! When the article gets published to the online paper, I'll provide a link for you guys
Other than all that, it's getting to be crunch time. We have 3 weeks of classes left, then exams. I had planned on going to Spain this summer, but the plans are probably going to get cancelled because we don't have enough people. I need to take a couple of education courses anyway, but I really don't want to give up my summer for that. ~sigh~
Still busy, but soon I'll be back. I'm sure of it.
