School has reclaimed my soul!

Well, here it is, merely the first weel of school, and my humanity has already been lost to my studies. This is usually a process which takes about a month, give or take a few days. This year it was instantaneous.
I have Latin first period. It's a really good class to wake up to, between Bebergal's parched sense of humor (I feel that "dry" no longer describes it), and three guys who we've dubbed Curly, Larry and Mo. Yes, the Three Stooges.
Journalism is already running me in circles, but it has opportunities for scholarship goodness, and getting my name out there, so I am a willing victim of the class. You see, Mrs. Jennings made an announcement in class the very first day that she needed an article for the Get Your Head in the Game Magazine, a local publication focused on HS sports. The deadline would be the 28th of August. She said it mostly for the benefit of Katie, a Level II student who was with us newbies for ease in scheduling. For the rest of the day there was something working in the back of my mind. I never intend to think about things so much, and sometimes I don't realize what's going on in the back of my mind, but it dawned on me as we were driving home-- Cheerleaders!! My twin is a cheerleader! DUH!! So as soon as I got home, I began to generate interview questions, and came up with about 15. I emailed my teacher saying that I understood the undertaking and the deadline, and with that in mind I was ready to embark. I asked her about it the next day (Tuesday) and she said that she was impressed.Mrs. Jennings was IMPRESSED?!
Even on the second day I realized the gravity of that... Mrs. Jennings is unimpressable. Period.
Wednesday I started interviewing, and taking pics. I interviewed a cheerleader and the coach. The next day I interviewed two more cheerleaders, and football player. The football player I met randomly after school. I could only assume that he was a football player, because them and the cheerleaders were the onle ones with business at the school at 6:00. Well... and me. Anyway, I had no questions prepared, and only a few minutes to execute the interview, but I got exactly what I needed. That night I wrote the article. The next day I walk into class, and she says darkly "I need to talk to you about your article"
So I'm sitting there thinking, Oh lord, she'll eat me.
She forewarned me that she had written a lot all over my paper. She told me not to freak. And with a flair for dramatics, she turned the paper over...
OH ME GAH Ihave never seen so much ink on a page in my life. I was mortified. There were comments like "Use last name on second reference" "Double Space" "Use symbol to show completeness of story (###)."
But she said that she didn't blame me for any of the mistakes I had made-- it was stuff I couldn't have known about. I mean, I was writing the article with no experience, no guidance, and no lecture. There were also notes that said, "Good use of quotes" "good mention of topic."
And she said her first impression was "wow. good."
GAH!!
Geometry is boring.
English II PreAP is epic. Our teacher is the greatest. She has such amazing, fresh ways to teach us! Like, she wants us to look at perspective, and she's having us rewrite nursery rhymes with different points of view. We can do skits or poems or songs or a narrative-- in groups. We're doing a skit for Mary had a little lamb. The lamb was kidnapped from Baa baa black sheep, as a plot of Mary's to get more popular than the Little Dutch girl, and gain the affection of Jack (as in, and the beanstalk). This, while the dutch girl is the teacher's daughter, and the teacher is a member of Peta. Mary lures him around with a scone.
Biology is funny. John and his friend Justin sit at my table, and before Sunny switched out, she was there, too. John and I are on fantastic terms, and I still don't love him, and I won't again. He's the class clown though, and it's entertaining as all get out. Like, he kept putting tape sticky side up on people's chairs.
AP World is cool. We've got a small class, but everyone gets along, and it makes a good environment.
In orchestra our cello section has been dropped down to 2-- Teresa and me. We'll have Matt for concerts, but he sightreads our hard peices for a snack, so there's really no reason for him to practice with us.
Outside of regular school, I am...
- Historian of JCL
- Academic Chair of JCL
- Certamen player of JCL
- Librarian of Orchestra
- Historian of Orchestra
- Member of Key Club
- A reporter of the Tomahawk Newspaper (school newspaper)
I am also being groomed as Myth Leader for next year, and still volunteer at the museum. GAH!
