I am so ashamed of myself right now. I mean really it is quite horrible (Not really, but still) so for years I have always mocked, and laughed at, made fun of, the rythmatic gymnastics as they call it. The dancing around with a ribbon.

I have never denied that it does take some atheletic ablity, but the very idea to me, that ones ablity to dance around waving a ribbon could be an Olympic event, well it made me roll my eyes and scoff.

So today there was nothing going on, and I thought I would check out which olympics were on, and I turn on the tv, and what do you know, it is rythmatic gymnastics. And it happend to be at this point a girl with a hula hoop. So of course I could not beleive that. You are kidding me right? Playing with a hula hoop is an Olympic event?

Yet somehow I got drawn into wacthing for lack of anything else to do. And as much as it kills me to say this. (In fact I think a part of my soul is wilting as a speak) but it was acutally kind of cool looking. And the hula hoop I think was the coolest of them all. They have to do three differnet events, ribbon, batons, and hula hoop.

At least the hula girl I saw was really quite good. It was really very artistic. So originally I was just going to turn off the tv and go and read, but I ended up watching the whole damn thing, something of which I am not proud of.

I must find something nice and dark and disturbing to clense my soul.

The events that I find rediculous are the synchronzed events, like synchronized swiming or synchronized diving.

I do like the diving, but yes the swimming I call cheerleading in water

Well, this cannot be that much of a bad experience since it allowed you to open yourself to something you judged negatively before, and that is always good, no? So, be proud.

I’m with you here. I’ve had the same feelings about trampoline, but if you watch it’s pretty exciting.

I feel your pain, Dark Muse, and I feel the same way about that event and synchronized swimming. I have not yet been enlightened as to the synchronized swimming. I saw a few minutes of it yesterday. The girl's were underwater, each had one leg protruding, and their legs', in sync, were waving, and all I can think of is Martin Short.

I can't actually ribbon dance. But I won't pass judgement on what is a sport and what isn't a sport, as people often scoff at equestrian games as not being a sport- and I definately know better.
