Nesting instincts

A friend of mine calls it 'nesting'- when you go all wierd and start buying things for 'my future dream house' and it occurred to me this morning that Ive been nesting for nearly 9 months now. I guess it started with the house hunting, probbaly ... but I ened up buying a welsh dresser. I mean come on why do I need a welsh dresser? I had one room in my parents house and I owned most of the furntire in there... a bureau, drawers, a freezer, a welsh dresser, various other bits and bobs, including a teasmade a sewing machine..a sewning box and a material hoard. Did I mention the curtains? an d the material to make curtains... and the stolen pub chair (I didnt steal it but I did end up confiscating it last year off my annoying neighbours who kept leaving me 'presents' including this chair half eaten carrots. aprons and underwear). a book case.. a carpet a hearth rug about 300 books ( 40 of which are cookery books).
Then I also have my electric whisk - which I must rember to rescue form my family as it is so much better than my mums old tacky one so they have been using it, my iron which my sister took to uni with her last year but which again I will be taking back as its better than the one my mum has.

But the real sign is my gift wish list the top 10 things include : A pressure cooker, a slow cooker, my mums bread maker, a vacuum cleaner, a steamer or steam iron, and a crockery set.

I have no idea what I am doing I must be going mad. One of the czech students I just met commented that I am always prepared and cleaning something... this was because almost everywhere we went the table had some thing spilt on it or was mucky and I began to either deliberately or absent-mindedly clean or polish it with one of the millions of tissues was carrying around with me.

I understand the nesting part but you have a freezer in your bedroom?

I like nesting and planning. I want to hear more about the strange neighbors.

It doesn't make sense to buy things for the future dream house. Save your money for the house and then after you get the house get the things you want in it.

No, there is totally nothing wrong with your desire to get things for the future -- I did that, too, before we got our house. But I do have to say that I did not have a freezer in my bedroom, now that's COOL!

I am completely guilty of this "nesting" problem. Sometimes I think I am just crazy, though. I have it in my head that I am going to have this spectacular house someday. It has been somewhat of an obsession since I was a kid. I have literally every room planned out. Anyway, I haven't bought anything like furniture for this house. Most of what I have now I will probably use. As for things to set around the house on shelves and such, I will use what I have, and God knows I have more than enough junk to fill a house. So what is my problem exactly? My kitchen and holidays. I have this thing with having to buy evertyhing that I need for my kitchen. Not appliances or anything like that but things that I want to decorate it with. I have had a life-long obsession with a Coca-Cola themed kitchen. So when I see something that I think will work well in there, I buy it! Also, I tend to buy holiday decorations. I already have an idea of where I will put it all in this imaginary home. I am really into Christmas ornaments, too. I will also admit to occasionally buying small rugs that I think will work out. So, I can't judge you. I have that problem, too, in my way.
