Bad Driver

This evening I was driving down the road going just under the speed limit. You know, take time to smell the roses, and all that? Further, Pepper was in the car and I never drive the speed limit with her there.

I noted a blue truck following me so close that I was sure that he could read the tag on the back of my shirt (grrrr). He tail-gated me up to a four-way-stop intersection. Remember that he was BEHIND me. As I pulled up to the stop sign, suddenly I heard a churning and revving (and really loud boombox) and this truck shot out from behind me right into the intersection and off on its merry way, spinning gravel and whatnot ...

Irregardless of the bicycle that barely steered out of the way of this maniac. I mean, this cyclist wasn't perceiving that the guy BEHIND me would shoot out first into the intersection (without stopping, I might add) ...

Thank goodness no one was injured. I could NOT believe what I saw, and I still am having trouble with this. I should have jotted down the license plate number and called on him to say he was a reckless driver. But all I could do was to see that the cyclist was ok.

Pepper barked the dickens.

But when doesn't she ... **sigh**

Some people should get a real license and not depend on a paper from a crackerjack box. Ya know?

    Ah God, such drivers piss me off too!! The other day I was at an intersection too, and well I need to take some time to look if there is nobody else coming so that I can go, you know, I'm sometimes insecure when I'm driving, and I don't like driving above speed limits either. Well, the guy behind me got pissed off that I took too much time to pass, and he suddenly made his engine roar, and passed before me! That was so stupid of him because he had no way of seeing if there was another car arriving! Jesus, sometimes people scare me. They are so impatient. The other day, I also heard that a girl of 20 killed a 3 year old child with her car. She was totally drunk, had smoked weed and was writing a text message while driving!!! That is such a shame!

    Yeah there are lots of jerks like that. But if I'm going slower than typical for a road and someone comes up behind me, I will pull over and let them pass. You are going slower than expected and he may have a need to rush.

    Eeep... Makes me worry about driving!! I'll be going for my L's soonish, in a few months. I promise I will be a good driver!

    No. there should be two sets of roads: one for people who know how to drive, and one for clowns like that. There are places where driving fast makes sense, but roads that have stops signs and cyclists are not such places.

    I'm glad you're okay, Kiz. I had a bad experience myself with bad drivers. Well not me, but my dad, I just happened to be in the car when it happened. We were in a traffic, and the street we were in is probably the most crowded streets in Cairo, and its traffic jams are the worst. So long story short the guy in the car behind us was driving I think at 70km/h in a traffic!! Anyways, all I can say is that the car didn't stop untill it hit the back of our car. Needless to say that the trunk of our car wasn't really a trunk any more, it was squashed and everything inside was broken . So I agree, some people need something more than a paper he can easily get if he had connections!

    Drivers like that hel keep me gainfully employed. But there coud have a ben a tragedy so i am glad you are safe and the bicycle person.
