News, Nonsense & Jenny

Soooo, whats new....
Well, it has been quite hot here, but talking about weather is boring. So forget about that, except to note that when it gets like that, my dog and I HAVE to go really early for our daily walk, because that is when the shadows fall in the trail that we like to call ours.
....
My family had a huge picnic gathering while we were all up North for the Icelandic Festival (Islendingadagurinn) this past Monday. It was a lot of fun -- we get up early and catch the annual parade (which strangely enough, never ever changes, lol). But it is great fun to get up early and head up there just to be with family. After the parade, my family headed for the park there and of course everyone had a picnic basket full of all kinds of goodies. I love doing this! YAY!
At the park, along with lots of things that people were selling (dishes, crafts, books, henna tattoes, jewellery, etc.), a woman was selling wool goods at her display. Her work was lovely, but what I loved more was the teeny little lamb that she had fenced in (so as to keep the lamb IN and people OUT) near her goods. I asked her why she had this lamb there, was it her pet? No, it was a lamb that was abandoned by its mama, so she was taking care of its every need. OMG, you should have seen it! The lamb's name was Jenny and I asked the lady if I could take Jenny's picture (with my cell phone -- dang, that thing is handy sometimes):
This Is Jenny, NOT a Stuffed Animal!! Cute, eh?
BY THE WAY: When I went to the store to purchase supplies for my picnic basket lunch, you would not believe how hostile some people were. It was unbelievable. My friend, Billy and I stood at the front, where you get the carts, and the first thing that we heard/saw, was a man angerly talking to himself. "Where the h*** is she?!" he hissed as he stormed past the two of us. We looked at each other... Then he barged into the line-up of people at the Customer Service desk (also at the front of the store) and roared at the timid little person behind the desk to quickly page Wilma Woo (whatever, I can't remember her name, and that is not important anyhow). Everyone stared at him, including Billy & I. We decided to hang around, pretending to read something, as this was unfolding into something strange, and as a writer (wannabee), how could I just walk away. Wilma Woo was paged and seconds later, a very frightened older woman scurried with her cart, knowing what was in store for her.... Yes, our 'gentleman' started to scream and shout at her, and before anyone could react, Billy (my best bud, I repeat) tapped him on the shoulder and told him to relax. He spun around and hollered for Billy to SHUT UP. Well, she started to tell him to ease up on the coffee, but the couple had abandoned their cart and headed out of the store... **sigh** Stuff like this gets my adrenaline going, but anyhow, everyone around smiled at Billy ... (she's awesome!) We went on with our shopping, and then another incident happened.
At the checkout line that serviced "12 Items Or Less", we queued up and waited eons to pay for the picnic stuff so that we could be on our way. Finally we were served, and while we were getting ready to head out, a woman with a cart jam-packed with stuff headed into this "12 Items Or Less" line. A man standing behind her started a quarrel with her, stating his right to demand that she go to another checkout, where they serviced larger orders. He was in the right, too, but anyhow.... This woman wouldn't budge, and the fight progressed all the way up to the cashier (there were a few other people between Billy & I and this woman and the cartful). Again, a timid cashier was hollered at by the man to do something about this woman. He was shaking his fist and everything! The people standing behind them waiting their turn decided to take up the man's cause and shout at the woman to get into another line up ... Can you believe all this? This SERIOUSLY happened on the same day in the same supermarket... Billy and I, again, kind of stood on the sidelines, wondering what was going to happen, then decided to leave. It appeared that a manager had been summoned, so I am sure that it all worked out. (I am not going back to that particular store, by the way)
Well thats enough for now, but that is what's been happening in these humble little prairies I call home.
