So this is my 100th blog. It’s been coming for some time and it’s really a lot of pressure. I don’t know why, but I just felt like I should do something special for blog #100. I’ve been trying to think of something special and I’ve got nothing. It’s just more prattle about the little things that go on here.

First of all I was attacked by the mean momma hen today. She really boxed me. She’s been all worked up because there are some new baby chicks on the farm. The hens have been hiding the eggs again. We found three, but there are about two dozen or more that are unaccounted for. I’ve also had a hen that hasn’t been going to bed at night. I figured she was sitting and just hoping nothing gets her. Today when I went out to feed the animals there were between 12 and 20 baby chicks in the yard. Anyway, mean momma beat the fire out of me. I have another hen sitting and if all of these babies make it I’ll have more chicken than I’ll know what to do with. Not really

When I get rid of the too many birds I can them. I’ve been so busy lately that cooking is rough. For one thing I’m canning a lot so it feels like I cook all day long and then it’s time for supper and I don’t have anything ready. The other day I decided I would use some of that chicken. We made biscuits and I browned some flower and added a quart of chicken with broth, sour cream, milk, salt, pepper, paprika, and turmeric. When it thickened I poured it over the biscuit and it was so so so delicious. It took less than 20 minutes and was very tasty. My new favorite meal.

I picked 22 gallons of beans today. It took me longer than I expected and it got on into the heat of the day. I’m still kind of sick feeling and my arms are burned. I have about 1/3 of them strung and snapped. I’ll do the rest while these are in the canner. I go back on Monday to do it again. These are from my husband’s uncle’s garden. I have to pick my beans in the morning.

My husband is a certified firearms instructor. It’s time for the reserve officers to qualify on their handguns so a couple have been coming over to practice and get some extra help. I thought this would be a good time for the kids to get a little lesson as well. My five year old has been very excited about it. He slipped out of the house after naptime on Wednesday to do a little shooting. I was painting and didn’t realize he was up yet. I now have a new passenger front window in the van.

I’m about halfway done with the boy’s bedroom. Painting the planets has been fun. I haven’t done earth yet, but I think it may be the hard one. I got some glow in the dark stuff and painted a spiral galaxy on the ceiling. My daughter is still awaiting the fairies and butterflies, but they will be freehand so I’m putting it off to think about it a little more. The rooms look great and I’m very proud of the job I’ve done- to be honest I don’t think I could have paid to have them done and it turn out any better. I just didn’t do well in my high school art class and flowers are one thing, fairies are another.

I’ll post pictures when I get them downloaded. It’s taking forever- should it take hours and hours to download pictures?

Well, I’m glad to be done with blog #100.

That mother hen sounded scary, I'd not like to be chased by something with a sharp beak and claws! You sound like you are soooooo busy, what with the canning and painting and chickens and the run-away goat and all of it! I love your adventures and want to congratulate you on the decorating success. As well, a huge CONGRATULATIONS on this, your 100th Blog Entry! Sending you a cyber-bouquet of pale peach long stem roses! Love K♥zzo

Congrats on number 100. Now I'll have to consider something special for my hundreth. Actually most of my entries are special. I don't do many if you haven't noticed, just when I have something. Wow, you can shoot on your property. That's cool. If we did that in New York we be taking out all our neighbors. Of course that's not necessarily a bad thing. My mother's beens haven't produced anything yet. I haven't even seen anything budding. But the plants are aboout a person's hieght, so they're getting there. She got a late start this year.

I don"t think I could do all that-I guess that's why I live in a city! The food sounds heavenly, though, and my son's would be in their own absolute heaven at being able to shoot a gun. Congratulations on #100.
