what did I get myself into

Rate this Entry
Being the nice niece that I am,I told my aunt I would babysit her dog at my house while she gets ready for her move tomorrow. I figured it shouldn't be too bad right ? Was I wrong with a capital "W"!! Some of you may know that I have a yellow lab who happens to weigh close to 100 pounds. My aunt's dog is a Yorkie and probably weighs 10 pounds if that.
My Aunt's dog is not used to being outside in a yard with grass, so I took her out in my backyard along with my dog. I had my dog on the leash as we walked into the yard and held the other one in my arms. My aunt was concerned that it would take a while for her dog to learn how to go to the bathroom outside but lo and behold she peed and pooped out back. I told my aunt and she was so surprised. Sasha, that's my aunts dog is used to going on a wee wee pad in the house.
After both dogs did their thing and had a romp in the kiddie pool (well mine did at least), I took them back inside since it is too hot outside.
My dog wouldn't leave Sasha alone, so Sasha kept running away from her and crawling under places my dog could never fit under. Here I am thinking how am I ever going to get any housework done today let alone eat something for lunch. I wanted to send them each to their own room and give them a time out!! becasue I was not about to have my day spoiled running around the house after 2 dogs that won't leave each other alone. So I figured let them tire themselves out (which thank god they are both now taking a nap). My dog is sleeping on the floor and Sasha is sleeping along the top of my couch.
Its like having 2 children and of course my dog is the instigator.
I'm still not sure how I am going to work the sleeping arrangments for tonight. If I bring Sasha upstairs, my dog is going to be jealous and there's no way I am having both of them upstairs. If I leave them both downstairs, I don't think either one of them will get any sleep. I have at least another 10 -11 hours to figure it out.
I think I'll sign off now and take a nap as well.
WOOF WOOF from my pack to yours

it does sound like a house full of kids! Do they make benadryl for dogs? That would help them sleep. Good luck tonight.

Ehehe, I love what Rich said about jealous dogs having a long memory! Hope you find a solution for tonight! Don't you have two rooms downstairs with a door separating them? If so you could put each dog in separate rooms.

 Gotta love dogs. I agree with motherhubbard, give them some benadryl. I bet you can find the dosage online;) Good luck tonight, and at least it isn't going to be for an entire week or something.

They're killing me here!!! Everytime I get up the little one follows me, so of course my dog then has to get up and follow as well. I know they are both very tired because they have been dozing on and off but once one gets up the other does as well.
    Is it Sunday yet ?

I'm not sure giving medication to your dogs is the best way to have them be quiet. I'm not sure either that finding the dosage 'online' is a very careful way to do so...

I was just joking too:lol: I've two dogs of my own, and I would never really medicate them.
