A Ramble through Smilie Land

A busy night is a happy night

Well obviously in Prague at the moment and on a work placemnet unfortunatly I hadnt been doing much and being in an office was driving me round the bend I was quite literally counting the minutes everyday from the minute I got up till Ill be able to leave work, but then came today!

A bit of background first the library Im at has a referance page that has remote access but the interface is in Czech as is all the guides and help and they decided that I would make them a guide in english for foregn users. this was after the hour long presntaion they wanted yesterday about libraies in the uk and the laws relating to them , I spent AGES reserahcing it and then they just sat there in stunned silance.... *grumble*
Anyway I hadnt been looking forward to this guide because I thought well what is there to say put your pasword in look at the list and find the database you wantto search right? Wrong! was I ever wrong.

Anyway I ended up really really working today translating then I thought ok now night lest try and test the system, and it was all inside out and back to front and confused, so I basically had to pull it all to pieces on paper then i cross referanced to see if the databases include under searches by type and subject were the same as those listed alphabetically ( and they werent! when they should have been) and I got so engrossed in masses of paper and post its and tod do lists and different coloured pens that I forgot about lunch and I only realsied that when I looked up and realsied that I was working ast the time when I should have left.

Now hopefully Ill be able to keep this project going until at least next Thursday before Im back to being bored and sitting around twiddling my thumbs and hoping theyll le me do anything!
