This is an amendment to my former claim [somewhat anyway], that after 3 times of reading "Heart of Darkness," I really don't care for the story, although I will admit that Conrad certainly wrote brilliantly...



...back to the reading drawing board.

    Right there with you. Reading Haggard all these years spoiled me for Conrad--he's S-O-O doom and gloom.

    STILL STRUGGLING...Imperialism, imperialism, imperialism... Okay... that message is clear, but will SOMEONE expound on what the term "DARKNESS" represents in this book? It is in the title, but to me a bit unclear. Perhaps it is only conceptual and just more of a symbol...
