The Walrus Asks

Rate this Entry
Okay, here's a silly question, but I'll ask it anyway.
Is there a quick an easy way to lose half a stone without any of the following:
-Diet
-Exercise
-Ridiculous eating disorder
-Drugs that don't work
-Cosmetic surgery
Why do I ask, you ask?
Because I'm now 13 and a half stone and while I like being over weight, this half a stone is damned uncomfortable. Actually, a stone and a half would be better, but let's be real, this is me. Half a stone should be fine for now, I'm comfortable enough with 13, until now it's the heaviest I've been (When I've weighed myself, that is. You can tell that's not often because I'm talking in stone and these days scales only do grams and kilograms. For some reason I prefer stones for body weight, it's an obscure reference to a time before my existence and if you don't know what a stone is, it's more thrilling to find when you've dropped one (no farting gag intended ))
Mine and mum's poor maths skills have deduced that a stone is about 7kilo's so half would be 3 and a half kilos. And, strangely enough, converting it to Kilo's is just as obscure to me as stone .
Ah well, that's all.

Hmm. I had never heard anyone talk in units of stones before. Is that common for your part of the world? So I looked it up. There are two different stone units, one for UK and and for US. The UK stone unit is 1 stone equals 6.35 kg; the US stone unit has 1 stone equals 5.67 kg. I assume you're using UK stone units. So 13.5 stones equals 85.7 kg or in real units (I don't consider metric real ) equal to about 189 lbs. Not sure how tall you are Bluebird, but you probably could stand to lose a little weight. (Please don't take offence to that, I'm just trying to help.) So in losing half a stone you're trying to lose 7 lbs or just over 3 kilos. The easiest way to reduce that weight is to cut back on carbohydrates and sugars, and if you feel a little hungrier replace them with a little extra protein. Just a little mind you. Also though you don't want to exercise, I would recommend you get a half hour walk four or five days a week. If you tell me you already walk, then you'll have to increase whatever you're doing by that much. I don't believe it diets, I don't believe in drugs or operations (unless you have a serious health issue) but I do believe in exercise. The reason people in today's world are mostly overweight is not so much the food but the lack of activity. I think you're young, but remember our metabolism only slows down as we age so it will only get worse. Unless you add activity into your life style. I hope that helps, and good luck.
