I talk about music a lot, don't I?

Is it possible for someone to listen to music not necessarily because she likes the words but likes the tune? Of course I get influenced by the words, but I think I can legitimately say that I listen to music for the melody rather than the message. Is that possible? For example, Enya's music. The lyrics to her songs read like poetry. They're beautiful! But I don't listen to Enya often because I don't think her melodies/ensemble are especially remarkable. Except for the Lothlorien piece, it's remarkable!

    I like Enya. Though I'll agree with you that some of her melodies/ensemble aren't especially remarkable.

    You should try Sarah Brightman. She's amazing!

    I think it is possible to listen to music for the tune's value alone, I mean, why not? On the other side of the coin, I like to read the lyrics (poetry) of many artists just for the aesthetic value, and if the tune is not catchy ... oh well ...

    I listened to Sarah Brightman on Napster and I absolutely fell in love! I listened to the Phantom of the Opera and Mr. Monotony, which is actually a discarded song for the Fred Astaire/Judy Garland film Easter Parade. It's a really fun song; have you heard it?
