I’m getting ready to go pick cherries so I just have a moment, but I had so much I wanted to talk about.
I bought some flooring for the bedrooms this week. I’m very excited. I found the floor at a REALLY good price- .77 a foot! That just leaves the living room and the dining room. I also found a front door. Many of you may know that a front door can be pretty expensive. I had resigned to a very plain (ugly) front door with a pretty screen door, but when I went to get the floor they had a display door with a scratch down one part that is actually hidden by the door frame when the door is shut. It had been 475, but was marked down to 75! I’m so pleased with it. I’ve decided to forgo the screen.
I also bought my goat a bright orange dog collar. Now I can tether her to a cinderblock and she can eat the brush and have a little more room to roam. The dog worried and worried over the goat’s new freedom. The goat is lonely and cries for the dog. We’ve decided to get her some goat friends. We just have to finish the plumbing and hang the front door before we can build a goat yard. I think we got nearly half of the plumbing done yesterday so it’s moving right along now.
We named the dog Jojo. I wanted to name him Bruce, but I wanted it to be said like in this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTjy_LW8DGM I went with Jojo because I can’t do my Rs like that.
My husband said we could get rabbits. I’ve been thinking about it for a couple of years and doing a lot of reading about raising rabbits. They would be for meat so it’s been a little hard to warm up to the idea. From what I’ve read the older you are the harder it is to swallow the idea of eating hasenpfeffer. I talked to the kids about it and the younger ones had no problem with the idea. we eat our chickens and the goats will be delicious so why not rabbit? The girls are a little less OK, but I think it will work.
The animals and my amazing garden make me feel like a farmer. I like it.
