It's Over

Back in February I had mentioned that I was going back to my old job to do freelance work. Today I was informed that it is over, done, completed, finito!! I found out when I got to work this morning. It would have been nice to be given a heads up but you have to look at the place where I used to work and then it wouldn't surprise you. So anyway, when I get in I am told this bit of news. I'm like "OH" I said, not to be rude or anything but you could have notified me yesterday so that I didn't have to get up at 5:30 AM, shower, get dressed and get the 7:15 bus. Since I was not about to turn around and go right back home, I sat down at my desk and ate my breakfast (I was starving and had to take my medication)
I did some last minute editing on the documentation i was working on and and left at noon.
I turned over all the paperwork (over 100 pages of a training manual) and left a note telling the director where I put all the files and thanked her. I left the note because she was nowhere to be found.
My feeling is they didn't want to pay me anymore. It's their loss not mine.
I'm not the one that has to deal with people being incompetent in doing their job. They got more out of me for doing 3 - 4 days worth of work than they get from the people that work 5 days a week.
Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed the work and the money wasn't bad either;I just don't like the way it ended. To me it was very unprofessional.
Now I think I'll take the summer off and come September look for a job. Hopefully my husband will be ok with this.

Your husband must have a lot of patience to let you just sit at home.

Virgil: yes my husband has a lot of patience. I have to remind him though from time to time how lucky he really is that he has me for a wife.

Hmmmm, now that was shabby. Very shabby. And they call themselves a business?! All I can say is have a relaxing summer, enjoy your quiet moments and then, as you say, in the Fall, go back out there (if that is your desire) and find a business that deserves that extra ooomph that you put into your job. Honestly, what a bunch of rejects! Cheers, Kizzo

They really shouldn't have done it that way. I'm excited about your summer, though. You'll have more time to do your tub! I bet your husband likes you just sitting around the house. I suspect providing for a wife makes a man feel very manly indeed. He’s probably one heck of a guy.

Strange way of dealing with you, not very nice, I agree! Anyway, it seems like they weren't worth having you working for them, so that's good that you're going away, no doubt that you'll be happier in another workplace. Good luck and have a nice summer!

That stinks! Although the summer off does sound kinda nice. I know a guy that got canned over the phone. He was driving at the time, his boss called, asked him to pull over then told him he was no longer needed. The Jackrabbits!
