Stuff & a rant

Ok, gonna start with the update. That way folk can avoid my rant if desired.

The roof is done, looks good. I got the green shingles, makes the house stand out a bit more.

Had a guy out about the fence, quoted me $2K (the roof in total was only 5 & a half) . This isnt some huge fence we're talking here, just a 45foot long 6foot tall picket fence. So I dont think I'll be hiring him. will do it myself, much cheaper.

I got a whack on the head on Monday (75lb bar) was considerably dizzy for a good half hour, but fine after that. Didnt get knocked out, this is the benefit to being a bit thick.

Now then, time for the rant:

Ok, Rangers lost I can accept this. The achievements of the team this year were beyond my wildest dreams. What I can not, will not & do not accept however, is the latest example of the sickening side of our support, which yet again I find myself needing to apologise for.

Firstly, without reservation to the good people of Manchester. Who did their utmost to create a carnival atmosphere. Which was destroyed by a bunch of neanderthals, all because the big TV didnt work.

I dont give a {expletive deleted} that the TV didnt work. The fans without tickets were lucky Manchester even offered to install screens. Also a lack of garbage cans is no excuse for leaving the city square looking like a landfill site. You all had bags you carried the junk in - put the crap back inside of it. Yet again the world has been exposed to the bad side of Rangers FC and glaswegians in general. I always love it when I am back there, but frankly it is this loutish element which always make me glad I dont live there anymore.

Oh Mr Betjeman. turn back your bombs from Slough. We need to exterminate Glasgow first

Aye, that last line seems a little damning. I feel you on the way people leave their place of community a wasteland after sporting or entertainment events. I live near New Orleans, and people come visit there and leave the trash instead of walking 5 feet to throw it in a bin. Its almost always a tourist. The part that rankles me worst is that the Federal Gov't. dropped the ball, and then the individual public think its OK to bury the City in Trash.
I do suspect you are correct in the 'Do it yourself' fence work. It won't take that long. Oh, and it sounds like a mild concussion you suffered. Oh well, watch out for the old noggin (regardless how thick), G'day, B

Ooh, hit with a 75 lb. bar. That must of hurt. Was the bar stationary or moving? You're lucky it wasn't worst.

Sorry to hear about your noggin!! Are you sure you don’t have a concussion? I’ve had two just from falls, but nothing like a 75lb blow to the head. Thick or not take care. I think that’s high for a fence, too. I bet you can do a fine job on the fence yourself.

Ouch your poor head, maybe you should invest in a hard hat? and how on earth can someone charge 2k for a fence the daylight robbery, building a fence is particually dangerous is it? The atmpsphere was destoryed merrily tainted... my friedn who was around town pre-match said it was one of the most amazing sights she had ever seen and the atmosphere was so great she wouldnt have missed it for the workd- and she comes from a carrabiean island where they do have carnivals and festival things , which is pretty amazing in mybook.
And really it was 'pockets' of people one pocket of people who wnet on the riot only what about 100 or so out 100,000 ? I think it is pretty obvious to anyone who really thinks about it that most of the fans were sensible nonhooligans.
