How do you turn a brain off?

Rate this Entry
Right, how do you force yourself to go to sleep at 12ish within at least 5 hours of before you have to get up at 6:30ish?
Any answers within the next 30 minutes would be helpful and ay later will be helpful for the next time . No matter how hard I try I can't shut my brain down before 5, believe me I've been trying.
Just finishing off Series 4 of Blackadder, then I'm off to bed. Normally I'd try and resist in such circumstances but I'm on the last one.
Ah well, it's not like I haven't functioned for a day on hardly any sleep , it's happened every Saturday that dad's collected me (and by calculating the number of airfresheners (4) I deduce that this is the third time (I ended up bringing back a new one after each holiday)) I think I'm all packed...hang on, need to put in the cutlery and the cat, and possibly the book ends, haven't decided. I'm keeping Eddie for another week .

Well I'm off, while I'm typing this I'm not watching Blackadder and therefore decreasing my chances of getting any sleep, ecause there's no point in stopping it now, Im half way through the last episode.

I read something boring or something that takes a lot of brain function. For me it’s Biology that really hits my snooze button. Most of the time I don’t mind being sleepless though. I can just get more done that way and I figure I’ll get enough sleep eventually, maybe when I’m dead.

Don't you have a switch that you can flip up or down at the back of your neck. Most people around here do.

I don't turn OFF anything. I just tell myself this: "You cannot solve the world's problems now. If they are solveable, they will be there tomorrow morning. So sleep, and find the solutions with a refreshed brain." OK, maybe not ALL of this, but you get the point. When you lie down, what is not done up till that moment will NOT get done by laying there worrying and fretting. So relax, sleep and tackle what you have to when the sun rises again. Good luck! Kizzo
