okay, so a little excerpt was just one of my many ideas...here's another one i've started writing and couldn't stop...
here's the first part anyways...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
A carriage made its way along the road on its way home, its passengers aware of the raging storm surrounding them as they bundled up inside to stay warm.
As the carriage turned a sharp corner, it encountered a rut, and mud flew in all directions. On the trees, on the horses, even on the young woman that none of the occupants in or on the carriage saw. She watched as the carriage, and the others, passed her by.
“I should've brought an extra coat.” she mumbled more than once. She wished she had paid attention to the great big gray clouds that had gathered that afternoon. Because Kingstrine didn't have many weather problems, she didn't pay much attention at all, and didn't think it was an important factor in her plans to run away. A horse’s nicker pushed all thought away as she looked up expectantly. When no horse-and-carriage came into view, she turned the corner and was surprised when she found herself looking at an inn called The Sly Fox.
She walked to the window of the inn and peered in, and found men at tables getting drunk, already drunk, or just sitting back, their feet on the table, lost in their thoughts. Her eyes landed on a plate filled with roast beef and warm bread, and her stomach growled. The last time she ate seemed days ago. Maybe if she-
No! She needed to get as far away as fast as possible.
The lone run-away made her way towards the stables, knowing that it would be faster on horse. Though she knew she was stealing, she knew that if she did have enough money, then she would've paid for a horse-and-carriage, but she dealt with what she had.
She walked past stalls, until she came to a fawn-colored mule. She was surprised that this place had mules, but was thankful all the more for supplying her with a sturdy and endurable animal. Leading it out of its stall, the run-away saddled the mule and led it towards the entrance. She thanked her brother for teaching her to ride horses without the side saddle, because otherwise, she would be in trouble. Hopefully, mules weren't too different from horses. Now all she needed to do was get the mule to calm down long enough to climb up on its back and into the saddle.
Things after that became a blur.
She had led the mule out in the rain, and at the same time soothing it, when someone was galloping up. Due to the hard-pouring rain, she didn't hear the hoof beats. By the time she did, it was too late.
Then she turned and gaped at the rearing stallion neighing madly. Turning, she tried to run from the hooves of the huge stallion, but they clashed into the back of her head.
She flew in the air, until she hit the ground ten feet away from where she had been standing.
Then she heard someone curse loudly.
