I don't know if anyone at all remembers (it has been a year) but last year I competed in a Fine Arts contest and went on to Nationals after district for my short story, my poem and my sermon. Well, this year's district competition wsa this weekend and I just got back. It was very looooonnnnnnggg and tiring.I did not do as well as I did last year.
Let me explain:
I entered in 5 categories: Poetry (duh!), art performance (paint in front of judges), drama solo, t-shirt design, and sermon.
I LOVED my drama, I thought I did well to....the judges on the other hand hated it.Everyone who saw it though loved it so I was confused.

They lost my poem.So they have to rejudge it and I won't know how I did until Thursday! *poutty face*
My art performance was a DISASTER. No exaggeration. I couldn't find a canvas the right size (last minute I found out I had read the rules wrong and I needed a 32*32 inch piece of paper or canvas) except for one that was $50! Which I couldn't pay. So I didn't plan on performing. 45 minutes before I was supposed to my pastor urged me to do it, but all my paint and brushes were at the hotel. So we taped together poster board, bought new paints, new brushes, and a plastic plate as a mixing palette. Anyone who paints can figure out how ad it turned out. The paint ended up being as thin as water and when I put it on the plate all the colors ran together and looked like mud. The poster board was VERY flimsy and kept falling over so I couldn't paint on it properly. All in all it was a total mess. Funny thing is it was the one thing the judges loved the most out of all I did- funny huh? The thing I love, they didn't, the thing I hated they loved. Ironic.
My sermon was good but I went 42 seconds over time.Needless to say I won't be going on to Nationals for that.
I am going to Nationals for one thing. And that is my T-shirt design. Nationals is in North Carolina this year so NC here I come!
